National Programs
¤ ENERGY STAR A non-profit organization established "to achieve a dramatic reduction in the global-warming-causing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of the Building Sector by changing the way buildings and developments are planned, designed and constructed."
¤ Home Performance with ENERGY STAR An integrated whole-house approach to energy efficiency for existing homes. Its local affiliate programs certify contractors and auditors who are trained in the building science of energy efficiency.
¤ Building Performance Institute (BPI) An organization for the home performance industry offering nationally recognized performance standards for contractors, training, certifiication and quality assurance programs. One of the main standards bodies for home energy auditing and home performance.
¤ Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) An organization of the residential mortgage industry whose goal is to set standards for the building energy performance certification industry, and increase the opportunity for ownership of high performance buildings.
